Savapinski continued the stellar week of the Gai Waterhouse/Adrian Bott stable with a dominant victory in the 2017 Matriarch Stakes.

Jockey Brenton Avdulla went straight to the front on Savapinski and he ensured that the race was run at a genuine tempo.
A few of Savapinski’s rivals looked to be travelly nicely as the field entered the Flemington straight, but Savapinski quickly put a couple of lengths on her rivals when she was asked for an extra effort and she raced away from her rivals to record a most impressive win.
No stable has trainer more winners than the Gai Waterhouse/Adrian Bott combination during the 2017 Melbourne Cup Carnival and Waterhouse was delighted to see this progressive mare claim a maiden black-type win.
“We only have 16 horses in the stable here in Melbourne and it is a real feather in the cap that we have had so much success,” Waterhouse said.
“I am so proud of the boys and girls that I work with.
“This girl here started as a restricted horse and I knew today with her speed that they might not run her down.
“Brenton rode a double on Thursday, so I told him you know where the winning post is.
“It is a wonderful track to be on and that straight really is a testing straight.”
Payroll made up ground late to finish the Matriarch Stakes in second but never looked like winning and Token Of Love rounded out the placings in third.
The Group 1 races are up next at Flemington and there is no better time to sign-up and deposit with Ladbrokes.com.au.
